HAMMOND, La. – For the second consecutive week, Southeastern Louisiana University punter Austin Dunlap was named the Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Dunlap averaged 48.0 yards per punt on five punts last Saturday versus HCU. The Slidell, Louisiana native earned his sixth career SLC weekly honor thanks in large part to punts of 62 and 56 yards.
Through four games, Dunlap leads the Southland Conference with a 45.3 punting average. The average is good for fifth in FCS.
Dunlap and the Lions will close out nonconference play with a 3 p.m. contest versus Tarleton State Saturday. The game between SLU and the visiting Texans can be seen on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM). Saturday will also be a Gold Out, as fans are encouraged to wear gold.
