HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team will return to competition this week, participating in the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at the RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Southeastern will be among a 16-team field testing the par-72, 6,585-yard course. The Lions will get a good measure of where it stands in Southland Conference competition, as league rivals New Orleans, HCU, Texas A&M-Commerce, UIW and Nicholls will join SLU among the field.
Host Arkansas State, Oklahoma Christian, Kansas City, Memphis, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Murray State, UT Martin, Central Michigan and Evansville round out the field. The first two rounds are set for Monday with an 8 a.m. tee-time. Live scoring, provided by the hosts, will be accessible via the golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
SLU will play with UNO, HCU and Central Michigan for Monday’s first 36 holes. Grayson Glorioso, Lexton Ford, Patrick Blaum, Landen East and Ethan Dial will represent the Lions. Glorioso has been Southeastern’s top finisher in its first two tournaments of 2023-24.
This week’s tournament will be the third in as many weeks for head coach Lawrence Allan‘s squad. After the trip to Arkansas, SLU will take a week off before heading to Killen, Alabama for the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational Oct. 16-17.
Before that, Southeastern will host the 30th Annual Homecoming Golf Scramble Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m. at Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond. Entrees are $150 for individuals and $600 for teams of four.
