HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Lion Up Recovery program is inviting shoppers to participate in a Christmas market at the university. Roomie’s Merry Market will take place in the Pennington Center Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Vendors include area boutiques, crafters, artists and those selling holiday gifts and decor. Admission is $5.
Funds raised at this event will support scholarships for students returning to college after transitioning into recovery from substance misuse or eating disorders. Southeastern’s Lion Up Recovery program has been in place since 2018.
Through her work with the Hammond Junior Auxiliary, Lion Up Recovery Program Director Annette Baldwin started this Christmas market several years ago.
“Shoppers at this event are just getting into the Christmas spirit,” she said. “We will welcome them with holiday music and great gift-buying opportunities.”
Local organizations will provide entertainment, and activities will be provided throughout the day, including a pancake breakfast that will serve as an additional fundraiser for Theta Phi Alpha. Tickets are $10 and are available at southeastern.edu/roomiesmerrymarket.
